I posted it there as you suggested, but no replies so far. I am not sure why
this is an IE issue though. Even though it occurred after I installed IE7,
the problem is in XP, not in browsing the internet. I would agree that
installing IE& probably corrupted something in XP. Also, I have seen nothing
in the knowledge base for any product that addresses this issue other than an
old instance when running a particular version of Norton antivirus. I saw
something regarding a "user hive cleanup service" in a download area of
microsoft's site that could be a fix, but I could not determine if this
applied to my situation or if it was related to being unable to log of a
server in an xp pc environment versus my situation of being unable to log off
as a user on a shared xp pc, not in a server environment.
