My computer quit working so I booted up at dos with the windows xp cd and it
works part way and then rejects part of what needs to be downloaded off the
cd so if I just continue without installing those rejects, it will not
complete. The computer was working fine. Any thoughts. I entered our
product number on the microsoft web site and it won't take.

But your PC wasnt 'working fine' as it quit working

When you boot from the wixp cd, its not dos you see, but the winxp
installation.
Did you follow the procedure for a clean installation (all data will be
lost) or a repair installation?
