Good afternoon,

I have just installed Sharepoint services V3 and tries to open the default
website using Frontpage 2003.
I have a pop up error saying : this website has been configured to deny any
frontpage modification , please contact your administrator.
The Frontpage extension is enable on the web site, and I have added my
account to the administrators group of the test machine.
my apologies if this sounds a newbie question, but I am new to frontpage.
From checking posts, it looks like a missing permissions of configuration
somewhere ?
Any advice will be highly appreciated.
thanks in advance,
Jérémie

Default where?
In IIS?
You're not supposed to open that in FrontPage, you're supposed to create
a new site which will then be "In" the root or default site.

File > New > One page Website and specify the location as
http://localhost/a-name-you-choose for the root folder for the site.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your reply.

I have created several sites, using default templates.
they all have a root folder with a different name.

The error appears, with I want to open whatever the sites I have created on
the Sharepoint services on IIS.

the error appears instantly when I want to open the site in Frontpage.
it says :

This Web site has been configured to deny all modification using Frontpage.
Please contact your administrator for more information.

I have tried to create a blank page and save it on one website > same error.
I tried to open file > open website > http://mysite/test1
or http://mysite/ or http://mysite/test2
I have the same error.

it really looks like a permissions error somewhere and frontpage is beeing
denied by a default config ?

regards,
jeremie

When you create sites in IIS using SharePoint, after the site
is created right click the root folder and select properties.

Set the permissions to Windows authentication.
