We have a system that, upon logging in, states "Windows cannot load the
locally stored profile..." Second screen states Logging in with a temp
porfile. Changes you make will not be saved.

We would like to revert to saving any changes...our documents seem ok, but I
cannot change backgrounds, screen savers...

Any insight is appreciated, thanks in advance.

You need to check the permissions to the user's
profile folder and modify them so that he has full
access.

Profile folder in Windows folder, or the <username> folder in Documents &
Settings?

User data is kept in the "%UserProfile%" folder. If
you have a Profile subfolder in the Windows folder
then it's your own creation or a legacy from a Win98
upgrade. Have a look - I bet it contains no new files
and certainly none of the user's desktop shortcuts!
