I have been getting this error recently and assume it has something to do
with my Lexmark Printer driver. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the
driver and get the same message at start up. I have experienced no problems
until recently when I installed a PDF writer. The writer is like a phantom
printer, I guess and my machine will not recognize the driver. I don't know
if the two are related but it is the only thing I can imagine.
Any suggestions?

It's possible. DO you really need the printer status monitor?
If not, you can usually disable it in msconfig if nothing else.
