First try to change it in Safe Mode and see if you could manage to change it!.
If not then proceed with following, bear in mind if your have Protection
software like Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware can block changing the Homepage you
need to go through these programs Option to configure them to allow you to
change the Homepage:
Open a run command and type in:
regedit.exe and click [OK] on the Registry Editor locate the following:
Change the Home page in the following KEYS:
Click on *Main*
[+]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main.
and look in Right Pane/Window and Locate *Start Page* Right
Click on it and select Modify and enter the Data say for ex;
http://www.google.com as your Home page and then Locate also this *Local
Page* and Right Click on it and select Modify and put the following;
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm
The same with this KEY:
[+] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
On the *Start Page* change it into
http://www.google.com
Leave the *Local Page* as it is if it have this string of Data:
http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd={SUB_PRD}...... etc
Close the Registry and Open the IE Properties by Right Click on the Icon on
your Desktop and select Properties from the drop down list.
On the IE window click on Programs Tab and click on Manage Add-Ons, in the
Add-Ons window Disable Add-Ons for Non-MS IE Add-Ons (ZA, Safer network..etc)
and click OK.
On the same window click *Reset web Settings* and click Apply/OK and Reboot
your computer and see if the new home page is set.
