Small network, 1 server, 10 wkstns of different flavors. Four of them
are XP and three have joined the domain fine, the 4th is giving me
problems. I have checked the netbios over tcpip, adjusted the dhcp
server for 0x8 (H-node), I am running AD and have tweaked the AD
server as much as possible, i.e. deleting the root (.) setup my
forwarders for the ISP DNS servers, all is well.. except!
When I switch from workgroup to domain in my computer properties (you
know how to do it!), I get a message that it has found an account on
the server, would I like to use that account,... well......sure why
not. I click yes and I get an immediate response that the network name
cannot be found. So much for joining the domain. I can map drives via
\\192.168.1.2\sharename but not by network name. I have tried using
the FQN as well, no luck. So here I sit stumped, searching the web for
answers. Any of you geniuses out there have any bright ideas I might
try?
