I started out with windows 2000, a long time ago. I
wanted to upgrade to windows XP, and when i tried to (new
installation) it said It couldn't find any hard drives
connected to the machine. I sent the CPU to a man named
bill at my office. I have no idea how he fixed it, but it
came back to me with win XP on it. So I know this is
possible. I recently wanted to reformat my computer. I
did so, and when i tried to reinstall XP the same error
from long ago came up. Cannot find Hard drives. I then
downloaded a copy of MaxBlast on this(my other) computer
and created new partitions, two FAT32 partitions and
formatted them, because i thought maybe the NTFS was the
problem(even though they were NTFS and bill seemed to have
done it with them being so) and it still doesn't work. I
have a completely clean machine one main partition of 15
Gig, and a second partition of 25 gig, both of FAT32. At
this point i have no idea what to do, and i can't call
Bill until monday. Please help me out!

Did Maxblast install a boot manager? Perhaps the issue is that your motherboard
doesn't support the hard drive size natively? What motherboard, hard drive,
controller are you running?

you might try the boot disks MS has available. Make sure
you download the right version. I have a post up near

it's a MAXTOR 6L040J2 hard drive
an ABIT BD-711 motherboard
and a HPT370/372 UDMA/ATA RAID CONTROLLER
(i don't know if that's what you wanted but thats the
first controller thing i saw on bootup)

If this drive is connected to the raid controller, you must load the raid controller
driver when running the XP install. Hitting F6 while booting from the XP CD and
having a driver disk.
