I cannot seem to intall update for Windows and I get this error 80070643.
All the posts seem to point to Microsoft Office but I don't have that and I
can;t so what the post says to do since I don't have it.
If anyone could link me the actual update file I can download so I stop
getting the update pop up on my pc.
This is the second time something like this has happened.
Very close to disabling all updates.

What is the rest of the error message. It has to be more than an error code?

I wondered if you have the trial version of Office 2007 installed on your
system? The 60 day trial version is pre installed on many new PC's.

Have you checked in control panel /programs and features? This will give a
list of the installed programs. If you have the 60 day trial and don't need
it then you can click on it and chose to uninstall it.

I'm having the same problem. I get error code 80070643 when trying to
download some updates. I do not have ms office on my computer nor has it
been on here as a trial. I'm running vista ultimate. So far the 3 updates
that I get this error on are Ultimate Extras Hold'Em Poker and BitLocker and
EFS enhancements. The other is Vista update KB942763 published yesterday.
This is starting to drive me up a wall. Any help is appreciated.
