Upgraded to new computer with XP Home SP2 from Win 98. Have all working
except HP Scanjet 5200c. Have downloaded "sj662en.exe" from HP which
appeared to be new scanner driver, but that doesn't solve my problem. Using
XP "Add Hardware" with new driver appears to work right up to the end when I
get message of "The class installer has denied the request to install or
upgrade this device". I see no sign of the XP WIA option trying to work with
this scanner.

Any suggestions appreciated.

It probably works with Twain, not WIA.

After installation of the new software from the HP website, you should just
connect the scanner to the USB port, and then it will automatically install
the hardware. Usual USB device, do not connect hardware to PC until
software is installed.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not work. Exactly the same action as I
first described happens--seems to go o.k. right up to the end and then the
same error message.

I see perhaps two possibilites--first I do not think the green button on
this scanner has ever done anything; second, perhaps I do not have the
correct new software from HP, but I see nothing else close.

My comment inre the "green button" was in error. Another person suggested I
press the green button in a different procedure.

I went to the HP site and I believe that you have the correct software,
perhaps you had a bad download and the file is corrupted?
Try downloading it again.
Good Luck!
