Here's what I'd try first:
Go to
www.filehippo.com and search on either Microsoft antispyware or
Windows Defender. You should find a page with the current, and many previous
versions of this set of products available.
Download build 701? of Microsoft Antispyware and run the download to install
over your current installation. If that succeeds, then go ahead and re-try
the Windows Defender install.
