I have tried using a USB flash drive and a IDE HD (80G Western Digital) in a
USB 2.0 enclosure with my PC and I get the follwoing errors each time:

There was a problem installing this hardware:
USB Mass Storage Device USB Device (this is the flash drive)
WDCWD80 00JJA0 USB Device (IDE HD in enlcosure)

When I got to Device Manager-Properties for each device the following error
message is listed:
The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28).

I then clicked Reintall Driver and it starts the whole error process over
again:

I do not experience these errors when either the USB flash drive or the IDE
HD (80G Western Digital) in a USB 2.0 enclosure are used with other PCs that

How can I fix this issue?

If thier listed in device mgr.,expand the tree,R.click on the device,select,
update drivers,let xp update auto.

I have tried to have XP find the appropriate driver automatically and the
error still comes up.
The drive is available in Windows Explorer (kb297694 doesn't apply) after I
close out the error messages and I am using XP not ME (kb 304708 doesn't
apply).

Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks for your help.
