I posted this message earlier, using the links provided by the 'Help and
support' link from my OS, but the message obviously ended up in the wrong
place and seems to have been simply deleted.

Windows XP 64 will not let me install ANY hardware, at all.

In fact, i've not managed to install a single thing since I installed the OS.

The hardware wizard simply pops up, repeatedly, telling me that there was 'a
problem', with no other information.

I have NO DIRECT ACCESS to the win XP DVD because one of the items not
installed is my IDE driver, so solutions that involve a re-install are not an
option.

I can also cannot reboot using the DVD because my MB needs additional,
floppy based, drivers to be installed at the start of OS installation, but I
don't have a floppy drive.

So far, WIN XP 64 falls firmly under the heading "not fit for the purpose it
was sold for."

I hope that can be changed.

Thanks,
Ray.
