Hi I am unable to get win2000 to run the modem install wizard
properly.
When you go to control panel and select "Phone / Modem" the screen
comes up asking what country you are in but the drop down is empty and
will not take any manual entry.
I recall in XP there being a file ?.msc that tests for inconsistent or
faulty files, I imagine this would also work in win2k. I do not want
to have to re-install win2k as the machine has Point of sale s/w
installed
I have tried MS knowledge base with little sucess,
Any help would really be appreciated.

If you go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Phone and Modem Options | Modems | Select your modem | Properties |
Diagnostics | Query modem you can see if it is OK. Is this what you meant by, "that tests for inconsistent or faulty
files?"
