I uninstalled old version and downloaded new Defender2. When I click on the
"get updates" tab it starts and then I get error message 0x80244022 or
0x80248013 saying it cannot complete the action. Any ideas?

I believe that this error usually indicates a problem connecting to the
Microsoft Windows Update servers. This can be caused by a corporate
firewall, or a situation where a corporate lan uses SUS or WSUS to
distribute Microsoft updates, and has chosen not to carry Windows Defender
definitions.

Does any of that seem to fit? Is this a home machine? Has it ever been
joined to a domain?

I have a small domain:
server and 3 workstations in my home business.
I will check on WSUS - I was trying that, but I thought I uninstalled it all.
I will verify.
If I get WSUS working - can I have it download the updates?
