I've installed outlook 3 times, and each time it asks for
the Microsoft exchange network computer name. Don't have
one. further states that it cannot open default mail
folders, also says cannot open "information store" don't
know what that is, can't find it on my computer. when I
close all of the dialog boxes, Outlook closes. Any
suggestions on what I can do?

What version of Outlook?
What Operating system do you use?

At any rate, it sounds like you have added MICROSOFT
EXCHANGE to your Profile Services (or may be called account).

You need to delete your current profile and recreate it using
something other than Exchange (ie POP, Internet, etc.)

Exchange is a mail server used mostly by corporations for their
email.

I had a problem where I upgraded OfficeXP to Office 2003 and whenever
ttried to open outlook, I kept getting a Server Unavailable error, the
a message stating Connot open Micorosft Outlook window, or somethin
like that. I used the following command line from the Office11 folde
to reset my outlook:

outlook /importprf .\.prf

This caused outlook to reset itself and create a new profile. The ba
news was, I had lost all of my settings. The good news is I can us
outlook again without having to install and reinstall it 100 times.

I think this is a big problem. I see postings all over the place for
variety of problems opening outlook 2003 after an install or a
upgrade. Hopefully our friends at MotherShip [MS] will give us a goo
workaraound, or at least some documentation.

I had more trouble having to sign up to post this reply than I did t
solve my problem! It was almost not worth it
