Cannot get rid of Tbird as default email

Outlook 2007 on XP
The latest Thunderbird (3) was my email client.
I have ticked the box in 'other' and checked with Internet Options >
Programs which says Microsoft Office Outlook, but if I try to send pictures
from Picasa etc it opens T'bird.
Help please.
PS. I would rather not have to uninstall T'bird unless I have to.
