After having problems with Roxio Creator 2009 I attempted to uninstall it,
intending later to reinstall it. All attempts to uninstall failed. I
removed all the program files, as well as ALL roxio files on the computer.
(I know, you are not supposed to do this).

Now the windows (Roxio) installer appears constantly -- every few seconds.
Delete it, and it reappears 2 seconds later. I attempted to reinstall the
program. All attempts to reinstall failed, even in safe mode.

Whatever is inializing this installer is somewhere on the computer, but I
sure don't know where. Can anyone help me get rid of the installer?

Download and run Process Explorer, and when the Roxio installer appears,
look in Process Explorer to see what the name of the executable is. Then,
simply search your drive for that name. If the Windows search tools don't
find it, the excellent and free search tool Agent Ransack probably will (and
faster, too). Then you can both delete it, and locate the references in
the startup or services sections that are launching it.

Process Explorer:

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

It was created to fix software installations that failed during the
install process and thus leaving a bunch of files on your hard drive.
(including a file name that ends with a .msi extention)
(.msi = MicroSoft Installer).
For example a failed MS Office installation (note that I said "Failed").
See: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/he...185721033.aspx

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility's has the ability to stop an application
from repeatedly trying to re-install itself as a result of botched or
incomplete install. In other words you want to kill the application's
repeated install process.

The Cleanup Utility will cure the problem by removing the file the
application uses to install itself. You do this by running the Windows
Installer
Cleanup Utility and from the list of displayed applications selecting the
offending application. Cleanup will then remove the components required
to install the problem application.
