I am sure there must be simple answer but I have not been sucessful in
getting photo graphs to display in Word 2003. Surely there must be a way, but
I am not smart enoug to figure it out.

In Tools > Options > View, check the box for Drawings and uncheck the
one for Picture Placeholders.

To make sure that what you see on screen will also print on paper, go
to the Print tab of the same dialog and check the box for Drawing
Objects.
