Everything was working fine today until I decided to add a second LCD
monitor. At one time for a short period of time, I was able to log in and
both monitors were working (although I lost the green on both monitors when
I switched from 1200x1600 to 800x600). One monitor is a 15" EQUUS and the
other is a 21.3 Samsung SyncMaster 213T.
After fiddling with it for several hours I am now stuck. I cannot get it to
display in both monitors simultaneously anymore. I still cannot get the
green to work (this is probably a hardware problem).
When I boot only one monitor works at a time and I don't get the login
prompt. I can reproduce this on either monitor. When I boot in safe mode, I
can get a login prompt on either screen but not both. I cannot log in in
safe mode even though sheintze is a member of the administrators group. I
don't have the password to the Administrator account. When I try to log into
the sheintze account, it acts like I don't have the correct password.
However, when I boot normally, I can use "remote desktop" and log into the
sheintze account so we know I have not forgotten my password.
How can I log in from the console?
Another (unrelated question): If I have multiple sound cards, how do I
control which one windows uses? On of my "sound cards" is integrated on the
mother board and the other is in a PCI slot. The integrated sound card is
not very loud and I'm hoping the other PCI sound card will have more volume.
Thanks,
Siegfried
