You might also try two programs which ensure all other graphic card
drivers are removed as well before reinstalling the nVidia Driver
(also, make sure it's the correct driver for the card you have!).
Two cleaners that I have used with good results are "Driver Cleaner 3"
(Now apparently "Driver Cleaner.NET" @$9.99 at
http://www.drivercleaner.net/) and "Nasty File Remover" - AKA NFR.exe
