I bought a custom built computer with a copy of XP Pro on it [on drive G]. I
purchased XP Home and installed it [on drive C]. I tried to get rid of XP Pro
by using the format drive during setup on XP Home and ended up with XP Home
on drives C and D, and XP Pro on drive G. I want to remove XP Home from drive
D and remove XP Pro from drive G. I tried to format drive G but get a message
saying "windows cannot format this drive. quit any disk utilities or any
other prorams that are using this drive..."

Thank you for your help.

Hi Antony

Open a run command by doing this:
Click Start >> Click Run and type in the Text box:
Format D: click [OK] or Hit Enter on your keyboard.
A black command prompt windows will pop-up and give you a warning about
formatting the partition that you will loose all data please type "Y" for yes
to proceed to formatting the Partition.
Do the same with G as above but replacing the drive letter with the correct
one like so:
Run >> Type in:
Format G:

Another to try to format in Safe mode or with a floppy boot disc then at the
a:\ prompt type format d: then enter. You can get a boot disc from HERE:

Nass

"Click Start >> Click Run and type in the Text box:

Is there a step missing here?

Spellchecker problem resolved here!
