Hi
Created FAT partition and formatted, (tried FAT and FAT32, ~200MB) using
acronis disk director. Acronis thinks everything OK. Winxp then asks to
format the partition. Then says unable to format. I also cannot read the
floppy or any memory cards (same results, do I want to format - unable to
format)
Thank you
Jeff

Did you mean 200 MB or 200 GB? 200 MB is a very small partition. If
that is what you meant, delete the partition in XP and use XP's disk
management to create and format your partition. To access the disk
manager in XP, right click on My Computer and select Manage. This will
open Computer Management where you can find Disk Management under the
Storage section.

If you meant 200 GB instead of 200 MB, Windows XP does not support
formatting a FAT32 partition larger than 32 GB. You'll need to use some
other tool if Acronis is unable to handle the task properly.

Hello Tom
Yes it is only 200MB. It is for use with VirtualPC and Dos. Disk management
is also unable to format the partition, although it 'sees' the partition. I
am sure this is tied up with the floppy and card problem as they give the
same results.
Regards
Jeff

First try as said by "Tom". If that doesn't help then try booting your
Windows in Safe Mode and then recreate and format the partition using Disk
Management.

Hope this help, let us know!

Try any third party software like Partition Magic. See if it helps you. Sorry
for delay in reply.

Let us know!
