Cannot find Server service to start after XP Professional upgrade

Purchased a Sony Vaio with an OEM XP Home edition. Also
purchased XP Professional upgrade. Upgraded the system,
however we now can't get this onto a domain - the main
reason (we beleive) is that the Server service is not
there. I'm not just referring to it not being started,
but it's simply not there. Does anyone know how to
rectify this situation?
