Dear all,

I have the problem of the Internet connection sharing.

I find that all network PCs are disappeared at "View my workgroup computers"
sometimes.
Then I need to reboot the PCs and it can shows again. But it will happen
again later.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem.

P/S: PCs consist of WinXP (SP3), WinMe, Vista(IPv4) and Win7(IPv4)

Look in the Event Log for errors and clues.

At a command prompt issue the following commands and post the output of
the commands:

net view
browstat status

No, these commands and will help with your troubleshooting efforts. The
Event Log can also reveal important information.

Hi,

I found out the event log:

Warning: Napagent Event ID 39

Does it cause that issue? How to find out the command "browstat.exe" ?

Sometimes this can be cause by 3rd party "firewalls" from garbage
applications like Norton Internet Security that ruin the functionality
of local Workgroups. Do you have any third party firewall or
Antivirus/AntiMalware that has built-in firewall protection? In many
cases this has ALWAYS blocked legitimate Workgroup traffic and broken
local workgroup connectivity. You are connected to the same
switch/router as the other PCs, correct? No change in subnet?

If you do not have such a thing, try this:

1. Go to Control Panel
2. Network Connections
3. Local Area Connection, Properties
4. Make sure Client For Microsoft Networks and File and Print Sharing
for Microsoft Networks are both checked on
5. If both are checked on, the following protocol: NWLink
IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol
6. Reboot

Can you see them now? Don't ask me why but when I have added this
protocol after spending hours or days trying to figure out why I can
see another machine in a local workgroup when it used to work, this
always fixed it for me. Let me know how it goes.
