After trying for a day and a half, I decided that this was beyond my
capabilities so I took the box to Circuit City. For $59. they did a complete
tune up and fixed the problem, which was in the registry. I had not fooled
with that portion so I don't know how it became corrupted. It could have
been a virus. They also cleaned out some adware and spyware and installed
the software for my new DVD/CD. It was well worth the money. Good luck.
