I'm using Outlook 2003 in Windows XP - when I click on File/Import & Export
and try to Export to a file - nothing happens - no "hourglass" or error
messages, Outlook simply doesn't respond.

I have to return my work computer to my company and need to export all my
email folders and contacts into a new computer. Any idea how to fix this
problem? I haven't been able to find any references to this problem in
Microsoft's website. Thank you!!

What type of mail account? If you're using a PST file as the destination for
your incoming email, use this method:

http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

If you're connecting to an Exchange server for email, you want to add a PST
to your profile (use the mail applet in the control panel to do this) and
then copy or drag and drop your email into it.

Depends. If your company uses Exchange then that's the only way AFAIK. If
your company uses POP mail, then just copy the pst file with Outlook closed,
with the following caveat: if you are LEAVING the company, then all email
folders, contacts etc created and stored on their hardware belong to THEM,
unless you have specific permission to copy them. If you are not leaving,
then just get the IT dept to do the transfer....
