I'm not able to enter standby. I get message saying
that "device driver for comm port (COM1) is preventing
machine from entering standby. I uninstalled and
reinstalled the COM1 driver. Now the message says that
my modem driver is preventing the machine from entering
standby. Anybody know what I can do?

ey Bill, seems like you're not the only one.. lol. Im also having the same problem. Im thinking that it actually may have to do with either something in the bios "Hooking" the ports to leave them open (some power-settings have resume set for mouse, keyboard or modem to reactivate the user session.
I've checked but am unable to "determine" wat settings to use.. or if my home network (running through a router then a modem) is responsible.
try disconnecting from the network/internet and see if your computer will enter standyby then.
If you run across a real solution.. please repost it here!
