Outlook 2002

The Outlook login box will accept the login account name but the password
cannot be entered starting in the leftmost postion of the password dialogue
window, consequently Outlook won't let me log in because of the password
field problem.

Example
LOGON
Server:mail.xyzcorp.com
User Name:Johndoe
Password:_12345 Note, the leftmost position in the password field,
displays a blank (the "_" represents the blank) no character can be entered
in that position).

I tried to delete the email account and recreate it but in order to delete
the account, Outlook ask me for the password for the account and I'm then
back to square one.

The Oulook mail is on an IMAP server and I can access it from another mail
client (Squirrel mail, Webmail) using the same User Name and password so the
issue seems to be something corrupted on the local Outlook email client
