Cannot end 'remote control session'

When I start Remote Control a dialogue box comes up saying:
"To end remote control session, press this key on the numeric keypad, plus
the keys selected below". The 'this key' is {*} and the 'selected below' is
Ctrl.

However there is no way I can end the remote control session.
