Cannot empty the clipboard

Hello,

I am using Excel 2003. All on a sudden, when I am trying copy even a single
cell, I am getting the message, "Cannot empty the clipboard". I don't
understand what is the reason. When I went to Edit > Office Clipboard, it
shows: "Clipboard emtpty. Copy or cut to collect items". I am confused,
please guide me.
