Cannot Edit Default Domain Group Policy

Hello,

I used my WinXP box to edit our Default Domain Group
Policy on a Win2K domain controller running AD. The
changes went fine, but after closing out I can no longer
access the group policy for editing. I receive the error
message: "Failed to open the Group Policy object. You may
not have appropriate rights. Unspecified error."
I checked the security settings and those are not the
issue. Somebody told me that WinXP corrupts the group
policies on Win2K servers and that I must do an
authoritative restore of the system state data for the
domain controller. Has anybody heard this?

Is there any solution or repair process to allow me to
further edit the Default Domain Group Policy? I know now
that one should never edit the Default Domain Group
Policy, but rather create a new Domain level group policy
and edit that one instead!

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom
