Cannot drag and drop

Suddenly my icons in the desktop cannot drag and drop to move or copy items
into each other. Let's see!
Yesterday I could take my mouse and drag some text file into a directory
icon and this would move the file into there. Or into a archive file (
zip,rar,etc)
Now I cannot. Even if I open the directory ( making it a window ) I can't
move the file or any other icon to the new place.

Does any one have a clue about this?

Windows 2K SP4 256RAM
Asus P4
No new update recently installed
