Hello,

I am having a lot of trouble with this ...so really need some help.

I want to download all the hotfixes since I installed XP/sp1 ( to slipstream
them) but when I try to get them from windows update it refuses. The
windowsupdate.log says that it's because I already have the updates(true).

If I can't download updates to disk that I already have installed then how
can I remove the ones I have or get rid of wherever XP keeps a record of this
stuff ?

thanks much

You're trying to download in the wrong place. Go here instead:

How to download updates and drivers from the Windows Update Catalog or
from the Microsoft Update Catalog:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;323166

Hi Malke,

I *am* trying to download from the site you suggest :
v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
I can download drivers for my hardware, but I want to download about 100
hotfixes to slipstream them.

Is it true that if one has these hotfixes already installed on the machine
that they can't be downloaded ?

(my windowsupdate.log file shows that there is acheck being performed and
that I already *have* these updates so it seems to refuse to d/l ?)

OK.

No.

No. You're doing something wrong but since you aren't very descriptive
about what you're doing, I can't guess what. Perhaps you're hitting Run
instead of Save, but I really have no idea. Thousands - if not millions
- of people have no problem downloading Windows Updates separately from
the Catalog to use in slipstreaming and deploying, so it is something
you're not doing right but I have no idea what.

It's not clear what you are doing, to tell why it isn't working but one way
to do this is to lookup the update history, note the KB article numbers,
then search the KB for each article and follow the links in them for
downloading the updates.

http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1

This should work just fine as well using the windows update catalog so I
don't know what you're doing wrong.

HI Rock,

No I don't know what I am doing wrong either.

I can download a C-media driver update ok,
but d/ling a hotfix just fails. After I have accepted the Eula, the screen
just returns to the first page when I logged on to the website, my download
basket is full of 23Mb but no download.

*Thankfully* a MS pro is on the case for me .
If it doesn't work I'll be d/ling each hofix as you suggest.
Mani.

To download an update you don't need to accept the EULA. That only happens
when you are trying to install it.

If you meant all hotfixes released since WinXP *SP2*, say so.
