PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED. I called Microsoft and after 65 minutes of typing
and doing what ever - we fixed the problem and issues of downloading - I am
Happy.

For all you people who are having the same issue, I cannot remember all of
the stuff we did, but what I can remember is this. ONLY if running XP Sp2

Restart your computer and press F8 as soon as the logo appears, start in
safe mode with network. When restarted go to explorer and try downloading
something if this works then you know it is your fire wall. Restart your
computer - normally, when back up and running turn off your firewall, and go
back try to download something again. If this works then I would unistall
your firewall reboot, and reinstall it again. Please remeber we did and
number of stuff before all this but this will give you a great start and
probably solve the issue.

What Sandi was trying to tell you, politely, was you did not give enough
information for anyone here to help.
We cannot guess at what problem details your were having. You have to tell
us.

Actually you were giving us too little information that we can't do anything
unless you tell us more.

For your problem, I'll suggest you to open the ports you need instead of
disable/uninstall it completely. (You can use netstat command while the
firewall is off to see what port(s) your program is using)

The firewall can save you from much problem if you can use it wisely.
Especially when there's virus spreading on your subnet.

We still don't know what your original problem was.

keep getting the 403 forbidden page - I've run my adaware, norton, avg - no
spyware or virus' detected... I'm at such a loss - I even downloaded FIREFOX
and it also won't let me run anything - says this page has been blocked

it's like my IE 6 is n ot really IE6/??? I've got everything enabled to
download plug ins and java...but it won't recognize it

Hey guys, I'm having the exact same problem wiht XP Pro... It used to work,
but suddenly stopped. I have my firewall off , I'm using a NAT. I had SP1
when the prob started, but now I'm using SP2 ... which didn't help. My
command line FTP server DOES download files O.K. I have actually reladed XP
Pro and the service packs and that didn't work either ... which leads me to
believe the problem is in the registry somewhere. Strangely the support GIFs
etc. classified as objects to EMail and explorer pages arrive with no problem
.... but any attempt to download a GIF, JPG, PDF, EXE etc. from a link, or by
right clicking on a photo to "save target as .. " fails with a "The requested
site is either inavailbale or cannot be found"

One clue (which might be meaningless) is a strange "add on" The name of the
add on looks more like a registry key: CD67F990-D8E9-11D2-98FE-00CCF038AFE.

I observe it by looking under tools/ manage ad ons (I'm using IE6) and its
the first entry. Other entries look O.K.

I should also mention I have Yahoo's explorer extensions too ... but That
used to work as well. Windows update can't even download its own files.

Panda and Norton both tell me I am virus free ... but something

Any help is appreciated.
