Trying to delete a reminder in Outlook 2007 but get the following messages:
"Cannot open the item for this reminder" and "Cannot locate recurrence
information for this appointment". Any ideas on how to get rid of this
reminder?

Try starting Outlook once with the /cleanreminders command switch.

Hi Lee,

Yes, first please try "outlook /cleanreminders" (exit Outlook > click Start > Run > type outlook /cleanreminders, click OK). It will cleans
and regenerates reminders.

In case that it doesn't work, continue to the steps below.

#1 Check the issue under Outlook safe mode
======================
1. Exit Outlook > click Start > Run > type outlook /safe, click OK.
2. Go to the calendar folder, delete the related calendar item.
3. Restart Outlook 2007 to test the issue.

#2 If you are using the exchange mailbox in Outlook 2007, go to the OWA of the exchange mailbox, check the calendar folder and
delete the problem calendar item.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin

Hi Emily

I have tried all the options you suggest. The recurring appointment no
longer displays in the calendar, or in the archived calendar. However
the reminder remains in the reminder box, and cannot be dismissed or
snoozed. Any more ideas?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Sorry to hear that the issue persists. This issue is mostly caused that a recurring item in the Calendar folder was damaged. Let's follow
the steps below.

1. Click to select the Calendar folder.
2. On the View menu, point to Current View, and click Recurring Appointments.
3. Open the damaged item. If you don't know which item it is, perform the remaining steps on each item.
4. On the Recurring Appointment tab, click Recurrence.
5. Click OK to confirm. (The warning message means any changes you made to individual occurrences of the item will be lost and the
new recurrence pattern will be set.)
6. Save and close the item.

Restart Outlook to test the issue again. What is the result?

In case that the issue persists and you are using exchange email account in Outlook 2007. Continue to the steps below.
1. Configure Outlook to open exchange mailbox in Online Mode.
2. Download MFCMapi from the Following location.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
3. Run MFCMapi, Click Session>Logon and Display Store Table> Select the Profile>Right Click on Mailbox and Open Store> Expand Root
Container> Select the Reminder Folder> Right Click and Select Open Content Table>Try to find the reminders that are popping up by the
Subject and To Column.
4. Delete the items.
5. When prompted for "Select deletion style", drop down the menu and select 'Permanent deletion'.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Emily Lin,

Thanx, the last option downloaded the 'mcfmapi' tool worked. We had
previously imported a pst into her outlook profile. After we did this she
kept on getting the same 39 reminders. They weren't reminder's like go to
lunch, or project due tomorrow. All that would show up is contact names of
people in the company.

Thanx Emily
