Cannot delete folder - being used by another person or process????

I've been trying to figure this one out with no luck. I did find out how to
go into the DOS panel, close Explorer and delete it that way, but I want this
to stop!!

I do a lot of mods with my train-sim and flight sim, and I download repaints
and assemble them in a temp directory. After I have everything set up and
ready to go, I move them into the train or flightsim directories.

About every 4th or 5th directory I try to move or delete does this. The
files all move fine from inside the folder, but then the folder won't go away
because it says it is being used by another person or process.

I went to Microsoft, and they sent me a hotfix for some other problem and no
instructions on how to install it. Big help as usual.

Does anyone know a REAL fix to stop this???

Thank you.

"You cannot delete a file or a folder on an NTFS file system volume"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320081/en-us

That depends on the cause - see the MSKB article above.

This isn't exactly a fix but will allow you to easily delete the folders/files in question. Download and install "Unlocker" program which you can find here: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
