the .exe file but when i tried to delete i was told that i

Try deleting it from Windows Explorer.

More than likely you need to delete the key in the
registry. If you run regedt32 you should be able to
delete the software key.

phil;
First! This will prevent this from happening in the future,
unless you unwittingly answer Yes to some download you
don't want.
----
Right click the IE icon | Properties | Advanced tab |
UNCHECK the two items below.
Enable Install On Demand (Internet Explorer)
[Specifies to automatically download and install Internet Explorer components
if a Web page needs them in order to display the page properly or perform a
particular task.]
 Enable Install On Demand (Other)
[Specifies to automatically download and install Web components if a Web page
needs them in order to display the page properly or perform a particular task.]
Apply | OK
-----
Try this:
Right click the IE icon | Properties | Settings button |
View Objects button | right click the offender | Remove
-----
If this doesn't work.
-----
It is known as Scumware. Visit these sites. Download, install, run, update
and
run again; one or all.
