Im using outlook 2003 pro sp2 and Im having problems deleting what I call
'dead' rules. Rules which have nothing inside them as in there are
instructions for them. Im not sure how they were created but I cannot delete
them [the button is grayed out] and when I double click on the rule nothing
happens. I have several of these dead rules and wish to get rid of them to
clean things up.
I have many successfull rules that do work so Im familiar with
creating/modifing etc but these 5 will not go away. Thanks for your
help...someone please!

You can reset all your rules by starting Outlook with the /cleanrules switch

Start-> Run; outlook.exe /cleanrules

Have you tried opening Outlook in safe mode? Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe
