At random times I receive a pop-up box with the "cannot create share memory"
error. There does not seem to be a pattern. What is this and how can I stop
it? My computer slows to a crawl and I have to reboot to stop it.

Do the usual and scan your computer for spywares, malwares and viruses.

Thank you. I have McAfee Virus scan and Pest Control that run in the
background and constantly scan. I have not found any malicious files. Are
there spyware, malware or viruses these may miss? Any other ideas?

Since there aren't any infected files, the next thing you can do is
think back on what you have installed recently. Softwares? Hardware?
Sometimes badly written software can cause a host of other problems. If
you think a program is to be at fault, try and uninstall it to see if it
helps at all.
