....or new Outlook profile.

Using Outlook 2003 SP2 on Win XP HE SP2 machine, configured with a single
POP3 e-mail account. The system was working fine (and nothing changed since
last message created).

The 'test account settings' function works correctly (i.e. successfully
send/receive test message), but all key menu items are greyed out (new mail
message, new Outlook data file, tools options...).

Can receive messages.

Same with new manually created e-mail account with delivery to a new Outlook
data file created using another PC.

Anybody seen this happen before?

Thanks

Martin

Is this a trial version?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Martin asked:

No.

The PC did come with a 60-day trial version, but it was uninstalled before
the retail Office 2003 was installed.

Could it be a left-over from the trial?

Milly,

Problem sorted - your question about a trial version set the mind in the
right direction.

It was an activation issue. Uninstalled Office 2003, removed Opa11.dat as
per KB823527 (together with other Office settings files and registry
entries), reinstalled and activated.

Many thanks

Martin
