I'm having to reinstall/repair my Windows XP installation. When doing so,
the setup process proceeds okay until it starts running into files it says it
cannot delete. In each case, it is recommended to pres ESC and move on. I
do so and then it gets to a point where it starts creating folders. It snags
while trying to create folder "windows\ime\imejp\applets" and says setup
cannot proceed until the folder is created. The only options given is to
retry and quit. I've tried retry several times and tried running setup
several times and it hangs at the same point each time. Can anyone help???

Test the memory using at least two of these programs. Let them run for some
time each, not just a single run:
Memtest86+

Download a hard drive diagnostic utility for the system hard drive from the
drive manufacturer's web site. This will create a bootable floppy or CD.
Boot from it and run the diagnostics.

Clean the CD, try a different CD, try a different CD Drive.

Unhook all peripherals except the hard drive, video card, CD drive, mouse
and keyboard.
