I seem to recall the Copy/Paste problem relates to a recent
security patch for the latest virus (worm) attack.
If nobody else jumps in here, and assuming Win XP or 2000,
repost your problem to microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.
Or, perhaps faster, run a Google search on that newsgroup
(
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search) using
the words cut, paste, svchost, etc., and limiting the date
to the past 3 weeks.
