Trying to copy about photo JPEG files,2gb USB Flash Drive.
The Copy procedes normally, then stops at a certain Files.
The message reads " File or folder cannot be created"
The Copy procedure then halts.
The file seems fine. I can open and read it.
I re-saved it with the same name and a different name
and converted it to a Word Doc. Same result.
The file is not protected. I eliminated the file from the copy list and
it stops at an another file.
All in all, about half files will not copy.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. I was told to
Try to copy all of the files to the root directory of the USB flash
drive, WHAT IS THAT??

Try this:
Create a new folder on the drive and copy your photos to it.

Root is c:\, d:\ etc. the base of the filesystem or a partition.

File tree, root geddit?

Can you copy any of the problem files to the root directory. Have you tried
running chkdsk over the flash drive.

Sure you have enough space?

A bit of explanation: your flash drive is probably using the FAT16
file system. The root directory in that system can hold only 256
entries. Each of your files takes from two to thirteen entries, so the
root will fill up quickly. The solution, as you've found, is to create
subdirectories under the root. The subdirs can handle up to 65,000
entries.
