I HAD ANOTHER TYPING PROGRAMME ON MY COMPUTER WITH IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS. I
REMOVED THIS PROGRAMME AND INSTALL MICROSOFT WORD ONLY TO LATER DISCOVER THAT
MY FILES ARE NOW DOT FILES AND AM UNABLE TO OPEN THEM USING MICROSOFT WORD.
CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INSTRUCTIONS AS HOW TO OPEN THEM USING MICROSOFT
WORD. THANKS IN ADVANCE

a few things.
1. There's this really neat feature on your keyboard... it turns the
CapsLock off... please use it.
2. This is an Access (database) NG. Try posting there to get answers
to Word questions.
3. why not just find all your DOT files and convert hte ones you know
should be docs by just changing the extension?

I mean, this definitely isn't rocket science.

The Microsoft webpage can be confusing, and it has misled you into
posting your question in the wrong place. Please scroll down the list
of newsgroups and post this in a newsgroup supporting Microsoft Word -
this newsgroup is for a different program, Microsoft Access.

When you do, please do not use the CAPS LOCK key; type in mixed case
like this, or if you're uncomfortable using the shift key, in all
lower case. All caps is hard to read and impolite, it looks like
you're SHOUTING AT US.

I'm pretty sure Word has optional converters to read DOT files but the
experts in the Word newsgroup will know best.
