Cannot connect to NT 4 with VNC?

I can connect to an NT 4.0 Workstation machine from another computer
on the network using RealVNC as long as I am logged on at that NT4
machine's console. If I am not logged on as Administrator (I have not
tried logging on as another user) VNC will not connect to the NT4
machine.

If I connect to a Win2k machine with VNC and no one is logged on I can
send Ctrl+Alt+Del from the VNC menu and log on. Why can't I do that
with NT 4.0 SP6a?

Did you install VNC as a service?

Matt

Yes. It is running as a service and is set to AutoStart.

Any other ideas?

I use TightVNC in a similar situation without any problems.

Try reinstalling VNC, making sure to log in as administrator for the
install. Also check to make sure that the service helper is running.

I know I was logged on as Administrator when I installed and I checked
that the VNC service is running. I'll try reinstalling the next time I
am at the site.

I tried TightVNC at two different locations with both Win2k and NT4
and had nothing but trouble. It would hang without warning and
generate frequent error messages. I went back to RealVNC and have had
no problems except the one we are discussing.
