Cannot connect to network

Just installed Win XP, have a 3com 100mb network card with
the PC connected to the network. The PC was previously
running Win98 and used the same network connection and
card without a problem.

The network card is installed correctly within Win XP
using the latest drivers. The card is configured to run
100mb full duplex and is talking to the switch without a
problem.

When the PC boots I get a solid yellow light on the NIC
indicating a connection at 100mb and a flashing activity
light indicating nwk traffic. Half way through loading Win
XP all the lights on the card go out and I get no nwk
connection in Windows.

Any ideas and possible solutions would be greatly
appreciated!!
