Cannot Connect to Network after installing USB Modem for Internet

I have an HP Pavilion with WinXP Pro. Before I installed a USB Modem for connection to the Internet I was able to connect to my network (mixed PCs with Win98, XP, 98SE) with no problems. However, now that I have this new Internet connection (with different IP addresses than my office network) when I try to see the computers in my workgroup it says that it cannot connect to the network.

I have Norton Internet Security 2004 running, I tried disabeling it, but still did not work.

I have IP addresses asigned at my office network, because that is the only way I could get the old Win computers to see my laptop.

Any Ideas?
