I have finished my "movie" only its actually an audition for a program with
the deadline closely approaching. I have saved it in my documents but am
unable to save it elsewhere. I did manage to save it as a WMM on a cd but
the format is wrong for the program, it has to be able to view on a dvd
player, and when you play the cd it brings it back to WMM. I may have missed
a step in the process of saving correctly, I tried to follow all the steps as
indicated online and through the help section. But I can't get rid of this
message when saving to computer or any of the other options.

"This project contains source files that are missing or that have been
modified after import. Your project cannot be saved as a movie until the
source files have been located or deleted from the project."

What does this mean? I hope I do not have to start all over, my project is
less than 10 minutes long. Which is necessary for what I need to do. But if
I cannot get it to save right, then what and what are SOURCE FILES??? Please
help as soon as you can, I have to get this sent off by the first week in
March.

I'm guessing you are running Windows XP?

If you mean to say .mswmm file...that is only
the project file and is used by Movie Maker
when you wish to re-edit a project. This file
does not include the source files...movie
clips, pictures, music files, etc...it simply
records the path to the original files. If the
source files have been moved or deleted the
..mswmm file cannot reopen correctly and you
will see Red Xs.

If you right click the Red Xs you may be
able to browse to the location of the source
files and re-establish the path.

For burning DVDs you need to save the
project in a movie format...wmv, or .avi.
(Then you import the completed movie file
into your DVD Authoring software to burn
the DVD.

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Also, you may find it useful to use
a custom profile:

Movies - Custom WMV Profiles

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...
