Cannot change signature

I recently tried to change my simple text signature to a different quotation,
but it adamantly refuses to change from the old one. Short of deleting the
old one (I like to switch off now and again) how can I get it to recognize
another one as the default? I have turned it off altogether, then gone back
in and changed, turned off Windows Mail, even rebooted, and the old one still
comes up. hmmm.... any ideas?

What is the size of the file containing the new signature? Windows Mail
won't accept a signature bigger than about 4K.

I didn't even create my own files, just typed a simple plain text msg
(similar to my line below) in the Tools/Options/Signatures/New... There's no
way I've overshot the file size, no pic or anything else...

It might be a security program blocking the Registry change it needs to
make. A few, but not all, of the programs now doing this are:
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
Kaspersky
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Spyware Doctor
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 or Norton 2007 it actually has to be
uninstalled. Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on until you
reinstall Zone Alarm.

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking and try the change.
